We welcome both children and adults to Thorniewhats Livery Yard, although children under 12 should have a supervising parent when they are with their horse on the yard. Sensible children are welcome to assist staff in the daily routines to help them learn how to look after horses.
We recommend your horse is fully insured and your horse will need to be wormed and kept in for two days on arrival. Fecal Egg counts are taken in March, June & September, worming if needed, and all horses are administered Pramox or equivalent in December.
Our livery stables have excellent livery facilities. We have varied stable of different sizes to suit your horse and the stables can be tailored within reason to your requirements. Our horses are kept in well ventilated accommodation and away from the elements. All the stables are situated around the main yard.
Once you have been allocated a stable at Thorniewhats Livery yard, you can furnish it as you wish. Some of our stables have hay bars and some rubber matting. These can be arranged and fitted if you wish.
We have a large tack room which is kept locked for secure storage of tack or we can arrange for you to have your own secure tack locker (at your cost).
We have a variety of land to ride out on, from fields to farm tracks and lots of quiet country roads. The views are also truly amazing.
We are happy to cater for individual diets and will feed up to 3 different meals a day if required and will include all the supplements you require (these to be purchased separately by the owner).
We have limited space for owners to park their own vehicles and trailers, but please ask for more details.
Private lessons can also be arranged by a BHS qualified instructor in dressage, jumping or just to help with a young or problem horse.
We welcome prospective liveries to come and have a look at our facilities and to discuss your horse’s requirements. You won’t be disappointed.
